The following are portraits of the elderly residents at the Care Home. I first met some of the residents at Grosvenor House about two and a half years ago. I was invited to show the residents some of my architectural work I had done over the past years. I was impressed by the residents attention to the photographs and the questions they asked about them.
I thought about photographing the residents for over a year before I got in touch with my contact to see if this was a viable project. After permissions were granted I started. I was motivated mainly by how society thinks of its elderly citizens which in my opinion, is not very positive. In my photographs I am trying to show the strength, wit and dignity of my sitters. I have arrived at a new understanding of how interesting our aging population are and how some of them move through the remainder of their lives.
